The EUR/EPAL pallet has a footprint of 1200 × 800 mm and a pallet height of approximately 144 mm, giving overall dimensions of 1200 × 800 × 144 mm. Its own weight is commonly around 25 kg, though this varies with timber moisture content and pallet condition. Those are the values pre-filled in this calculator.

How Many Boxes Fit on a Euro Pallet?

Cartons per layer come from fitting the carton footprint into 1200 × 800 mm in both horizontal orientations. A 400 × 300 mm carton gives 4 × 2 = 8 per layer; a 600 × 400 mm carton gives 2 × 2 = 4 per layer; a 300 × 200 mm carton gives 4 × 4 = 16 per layer. The total is then that figure multiplied by the number of layers permitted by the height and weight limits.

Euro Pallet Height

Pallet height of 144 mm is part of every height restriction you work with. If your racking beam opening or trailer allows a 1600 mm loaded pallet, only 1456 mm is available for cargo, which fits five 250 mm carton layers with 206 mm left unused.

Euro Pallet Weight Limits

The practical weight limit for a loaded pallet is set by your racking beam capacity, forklift capacity, floor loading and transport rules rather than by the pallet alone. Enter the value that applies in your operation as the maximum total pallet weight; the calculator deducts the 25 kg pallet weight and reports whether height or weight limits the load first.

Improving Euro Pallet Utilization

Utilization improves when the carton footprint divides cleanly into 1200 × 800 mm. Carton dimensions based on the 600 × 400 mm modular grid (600 × 400, 400 × 300, 300 × 200) leave almost no wasted floor area. Where a redesign is not possible, adjusting the carton height so that whole layers fill the available load height usually recovers more volume than changing the footprint.
